Wedding hair & makeup trial

On Saturday I had the pleasure of doing makeup & hair trial for Monica, a beautiful Brazilian bride who is getting married in May. She had sent me some pictures of how she wanted her hair; a loose romantic chignon (love this style, so pretty!) and said she wanted to discuss makeup ideas with me at her trial.

When I arrived she showed me some magazines that she had collected of different makeup looks varying from a lovely soft natural look to a more glamorous evening look.
I started with the more natural look as that would be much easier to build on afterwards if she wanted to try a heavier look!
1. I prepared the skin with Makeup forever HD primer which I applied all over the skin and left for a few moments to absorb.

2. For a flawless complexion, using my Graftobian warm palette, I applied the foundation, starting in the middle of the face and blending outwards. I applied more of this product where needed - for example under the eyes and on any blemishes. For coverage on any blemishes I used a combination of Bobbi Brown correctors and my Dermacolour palette.

3. To add a hint of colour to the cheeks I used my Kryolan cream blush colour wheel with a rosy hue.

4. I set my base and blush with translucent powder, and applied this lightly all over the face concentrating on the t-zone and eyelids.

5. To define Monica's eyebrows I used an angled brush and a light brown shade from my Makeup International eyeshadow palette.

6. For the eyes, I used Urban Decay's Naked eyeshadow palette, starting with the bronze shade on the eyelids and the darker taupe brown shade to contour. I brought this very slightly underneath the eye also. I applied a small amount of MAC mineralise 'soft and gentle' highlighter to the brow bone and inner corner of the eye to brighten it.

7. I lined the eyes thinly with Maybelline's Eyestudio gel liner on the top and used a smudgey brown/bronze underneath.

8. To finish off the eyes I applied a couple of coats of Maybelline black mascara.

9. I used my NYC bronzer to contour the face in all the places the sun would naturally hit and brushed on my Clinique powder blush to give the cheeks some more colour.

10. To finish this look I lined the lips with MAC pencil liner 'Spice' and applied L'Oreal lipstick in 'Nude' mixed with a baby pink colour from my Kryolan lip palette.

At the eleventh hour...

On Sunday morning I woke up to a text from a real damsel in distress!! :)

Poor Ananya had been let down at the last minute for her makeup to go to a family wedding and she was desperate to get someone last minute to come and help. I was more than happy to do this for her so flung myself in the shower, got my kit together and jumped in the car to her rescue!

Ananya wanted a nice subtle makeup, not a stereotypical heavy 'Asian makeup' look. She had a beautiful burnt orange sari to wear for the wedding so I wanted to compliant the outfit with the colours I chose.

I used Bobbi brown 'Warm honey' for her base and used a mixture of MAC golds and bronzes for eyeshadow. For lips I used MAC pro longwear lipstick which Ananya had so she could top it up throughout the day.

I put some loose curls through her hair and she was glammed up and ready to jump in the car, disaster averted :)
It was lovely to see Ananya's review on yell.com!!! Thanks Ananya!

'I was very fortunate in finding Tina from the internet. I contacted her at the nth hour which was basically the day of my cousin's wedding. Her friendliness and enthusiasm were obvious from the time she texted me to say that she would come over and do my party make up. From the outset Tina just knew what colours would look good on my skin, she has an absolute flare for this. The results were awesome and I was complimented by everybody at the wedding!!.I would not hesitate in using Tina again and would highly recommend her to anyone who needs any kind of hair or make up service for any special occasion. Her professionalism and punctuality are highly commendable as well. Keep up the good work Tina!!'

Viva La Foto party shoot

I was asked to come and do makeup for a 8th Birthday party at Viva la Foto in Bromley.

It was for 8 eight year olds so I knew it was going to be a bit mad!!!

They just needed to have lipgloss and blusher for the first hour when they were all having their pictures taken, then they wanted to all look like their favourite 'Monster High dolls' to play for the last hour!!!

Now if you are anything like me, you will have no idea what Monster High even is.....

Picture
That is Monster High...
I only had an hour to transform 8 eight year olds into their favourite characters, so one by one they got in my chair clutching their doll and I did what I could to transform them into 'Draculaura', 'Frankistein' and any of the others!? As they were so young and running around I didn't want to plaster them with loads of makeup so I just used minimal products to give them the overall effect and they were all very happy :)
